Meet The Doctors

Dr. David LeRoux, OD

Dr. LeRoux and his family first moved to the Richmond area in 1992. Due in large part to Dr. LeRoux’s dedication to the practice, FVCOR was named “The Best” in Richmond optometry by The Richmond Times Dispatch in 2015 & 2016. Dr. LeRoux loves his job most when he sees a child for their first eye exam, and they are brought by a parent, who also saw Dr LeRoux for their first exam when they were a kid.

Dr. Patricia Daylor, OD

Dr. Daylor was born and raised in the Richmond area. She adores the Glen Allen neighborhood where she lives with her husband and son. Dr. Daylor enjoys vacationing with close friends and family, including a visit to New York City each year to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. She has been named one of Richmond Magazine’s “Top Docs'' multiple times, and her outstanding patient care garnered her first place in OurHealth Richmond’s Best Bedside Manner Awards. Dr. Daylor is proud of being part of the team that makes FVCOR the best place in the Richmond area for primary eye care.

Dr. Tracy Poling, OD

Dr. Poling has lived in the Richmond area since 1992. She graduated from Virginia Tech and University of Alabama School of Optometry. She and her husband Jay have 4 “mostly” grown boys. They have recently moved to the Fan to enjoy their empty nest lifestyle! Dr. Poling treasures the moment she administered an inaugural eye exam to a student with severe attention and learning disabilities. Appropriate eye care helped this patient achieve social, emotional, and scholastic wellness.

Dr. Jeff Michaels, OD

Dr. Michaels has lived in the Richmond area since 1999. When not with his work family, Dr. Michaels can be found coaching the mental aspects of sports to college and high level travel and high school sports teams. Dr. Michaels was honored as Virginia’s optometrist of the year (twice) and received the President’s Award (twice) by the American Optometric Association for helping to increase the quality of eye and vision care to patients worldwide. In 2022, Dr Michaels was voted one of Richmond’s Top Doc in the Richmond Magazine Annual Survey. One of Dr. Michaels’ favorite optometry moments occurred on a missions trip when he prescribed a vision and hearing impaired teen her first pair of glasses, allowing her to see clearly for the first time.

Dr. Stephanie Matsko, OD

Dr. Matsko was born in Texas and moved to Glen Allen when she was 8 years old. She graduated from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!). She started working at FVCOR when she was 15, and after receiving her training from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, returned to her vision care family at FVCOR.

Dr. Vera Dham, OD

Dr. Vera Dham, a New York native, currently resides in Henrico with her husband, Dan. Dr. Dham completed her B.S. in Biology at VCU. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Salus University in 2013. She enjoyed her internship at FVCOR as a student so much that she decided to return as a full time doctor! She has two dogs, Kona and Rocky. Kona is a 7 year old, lab-pitbull mix and Rocky is an 11 year old terrier mix. When Dr. Dham is not working, she can be found spending time with her friends and family (specifically her niece Siyana!), practicing yoga, trying new restaurants, hiking, bike riding or traveling.

Dr. Helen Tower, OD

Dr. Helen Tower’s passion for optometry began at age 10, when her first eye exam allowed her to see the world clearly for the very first time. This life-changing experience inspired her to pursue a career in eye care.

She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry in 1987, followed by a residency at the Newington VA Hospital in Connecticut in 1988. Shortly after, she relocated to the Richmond area, where she continues to reside with her husband. They have two children—one living in California and one in Chesterfield—along with their son-in-law and first grandchild.

In 1995, Dr. Tower opened Tower Optometry and led the practice with dedication for nearly 30 years. In 2024, she joined Family Vision Care of Richmond, a natural partnership aligned with her patient-first philosophy.

Throughout her career, Dr. Tower has found that truly listening to and observing her patients is essential to uncovering the full picture of their well-being. This thoughtful approach has even led to the diagnosis of serious health conditions that might have otherwise gone unnoticed. For Dr. Tower, the most fulfilling part of her work is the opportunity to care for her patients—not just through their eyes, but as whole individuals.

In her free time, Dr. Tower enjoys traveling, jigsaw puzzles, exploring local vineyards, and most of all, spending time with her grandson.

Dr. Laurel Jordan, OD

Dr. Jordan is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Optometry. After earning her degree, she proudly served in the United States Navy, where she was stationed at the Naval Medical Clinic in Quantico. During her military service, she was honored to serve as a visiting specialist for the White House Medical Unit.

Following her time in the Navy, Dr. Jordan has provided comprehensive eye care in both Fredericksburg and Ashland. She has been practicing alongside Dr. Tower in Ashland since 2006.

Dr. Jordan lives in Spotsylvania with her husband and daughter. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and exploring new places with her family and friends.

Dr. Danielle Ito, OD

Dr. Ito has been around eye care and optometry for a generation!  Her mother and brother are both doctors of optometry and she credits that experience to helping her empathy in the exam room.

She is an avid traveler with stops in Japan and Switzerland among her favorites but the next fav is yet to be explored.  That love of travel brought her from a childhood in California to Washington for college, to The Ohio State for optometry school and then specialized eye training in Virginia.

Dr. Ito knows myopia (nearsightedness) because she is a long-time wearer of orthokeratology (OK) lenses herself.  She is holding the current record for longest OK wear at Family Vision Care of Richmond and is bringing that experience to our patients in the Richmond area!

When you see Dr. Ito, be sure to offer her suggestions for new restaurants, local coffee shops and your best overseas travel love.
